2 Jugglers ~ 8 Clubs

April 14th, 2009 · No Comments · Juggling, Spinning, Object Manipulation

I’m just back from the Isla Vista Juggling Festival which was held Easter weekend at the University of California, Santa Barbara. As a baton twirler, I’m fascinated with juggling and attend as many festivals as I can. I love to pass clubs, and I spent some time in the gym taking video of just that.

Bob & Clay are working on passing 8 clubs between them. Check out the beautiful arc between them. Using video is a great way to work on skills, as you can analyze technique. Take a look at the catches each juggler makes. While passing clubs, you are reliant on receiving accurate passes from your partner. You’ll see the corrections and adjustments each juggler makes when catching a club upside down or having to reach for the catch. Since each caught club is again passed backed to the partner, there is a principle at work that jugglers lovingly refer to as “Garbage In, Garbage Out!”

Bob, the juggler on the left, passes clubs with us at the Castro Valley Jugglers Association. Clay, on the right, attends UC San Diego, (which has it’s very own juggling club), and lives in La Jolla, California.
