Amazing Jump Roping!

Ready to watch a FUN, high energy, and inspiring video?  I recently came across this “wow” of a jump roping performance team.

The Firecrackers are a performance jump rope team that performs at basketball half times across the USA.  This video of their performance at the Army vs. Navy game has been going a viral!  The video has received nearly 10 million hits and has now been viewed in about 88 countries.

This talented bunch of 4th through 8th graders are part of a program at the Kings Local School District in Ohio.  The jump rope team was established 13 years ago by physical education coach Lynn Kelley.  The team practices 2 hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week.  Jump roping has many parallels to the sport of baton twirling.  There is an entire circuit of competitive and performance jump rope activities throughout the US, as well as internationally.

Baton twirlers will really appreciate the big group patterns, speed, and athleticism of this performance.  Who knew?

The Kings Firecrackers have now been featured on Dayton’s FOX45 News and in The Pulse-Journal.  Their past performances include The David Letterman Show, a Presidential Inauguration, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, as well as a coverage in the American Girl Magazine.
