AYOP Nationals Brings Baton Twirlers Together This Week

July 22nd, 2009 · No Comments · Baton Competitions and Contests

AYOP Baton Twirling Nationals are being held this week at the University of Notre Dame. Baton twirlers from around the country have converged in South Bend, Indiana for the 39th consecutive year, to compete in this annual competition sanctioned by the NBTA (National Baton Twirling Association).  There are close to 3,000 in attendance this year!

AYOP (America’s Youth on Parade) has been hosting this twirling spectacular for many years. The huge variety of events for individual competitors include solo, strut, boys, 2-baton, 3-baton, dance twirl, rhythmic twirl, show twirl, modeling, and pageant.

Other competitive events for groups include twirling teams, dance twirl teams, high school majorette lines, dance lines, pom pon teams, twirling corps, parade corps, show corps, flag corps, and drill teams.

The exciting week of national competitions culminate in a spectacular Grand Final event this Friday evening!

Best of luck to all of the participants at this year’s AYOP Nationals. And, no doubt their families and fans are having a fun and exciting week! Look for the AYOP 2009 results of the national championships to be posted online.

Appreciation to the South Bend Tribune for sharing their video clip.
