How we love those baton twirling moms! Meet Tally and her spirited reenactment of the baton twirling routine that helped her win the Junior Miss Englewood crown in 1966. Once a majorette, always a majorette!

I so enjoyed seeing you twirl. I am 70 years old and was a majorette in high school in 1959-1961. I just recently entered a talent contest here at the senior citizen complex where I live and I am going to twirl my baton! Am I crazy? Whenever I come upon a baton I start twirling like heck. I just want to have some fun in my later years. Please email me back if you like.

It’s been 9 days since I posted the above message and I wanted to add a couple of comments… I wanted to say that I taught baton for over 40 yrs; it was my life’s passion! I stopped teaching 16 yrs ago to care for my Grandaughter. I went to Hawaii
To visit family & googled the name of a member of my favorite High School twirling teams from yrs.past. The result was a Dec2014 twirl team reunion & a decision on their part to march in a parade again! I coached them long distance from Bozeman, Montana & also sent them Starline Baton’s videos to brush up on beginner twirls. I started practicing my twirls & reviewing tricks and

Held 2 baton workshops in May & Sept. for training & polishing up our Parade & Strut routine.Getting into shape after all these yrs. was brutal on me, it involved 11 mo. Of gradual exercise & a lot of PAIN. The “comeback” is
Work, but why not do the exercise you love & have a passion for!? It’s a whole lot more fun when you
Can attach happy memories to what your
Sweating over in your workouts! I’m SURPRIZED at the number of “body memories” I keep coming up with…. All those old tricks I remember are amazing. What a blessing it has been for me to experience the JOY of teaching & coaching my previous twirling team and to have the opportunity
Once again! This newest twirling journey was priceless & precious to me & to my Castle Queens majorettes’ team members. Age is only a number. Who says you can’t still do what you liked to do as a child? So I say- GOOOO…GIRLS!
