The March Madness Baton Championships were held recently in Kansas City, Missouri. This baton twirling competition is unique in that it blends the rules of 2 major baton twirling organizations, NBTA (National Baton Twirling Association) and USTA (United States Twirling Association). Judges from both organizations were also brought in for this collaborative event.
Several participants and winners from the Denver, Colorado area were featured in media coverage. Molly MacEachen was a winner in several events, and the Colorado Twirls Dance Twirl Team, coached by Anna Osborn Dolan, came away with a 2nd place.
Judge and clinician Koralea Slagle of the Slagle Dance and Baton Studio in Clay Center, Kansas conducted a clinic the next day, offering instruction in baton, ballet, and gymnastics.
