Wheaton Twirlers Director Highlighted in “Working Woman” TV News

Annie Kennedy, director of the Wheaton Twirlers, was featured in this recent “Working Woman” TV news segment.

Ann Kennedy’s mother, Evelyn D’Anna, founded this Wheaton, Maryland baton twirling program in 1959. For the past 50 years these hard working twirlers and instructors have continued to win local, regional, state, national and world titles in dance twirl team and twirl team events. The Wheaton Twirlers currently have more than 200 athletes and many more alumni.

Ann Kennedy is also a mom, a preschool teacher, and has been the head coach of the University of Maryland dance team for the last 10 years.

The Wheaton Twirlers teams just accomplished a lot of success at the 2011 AYOP Baton Twirling Nationals, winning the national championships in several categories. They will be going on to compete in the NBTA (National Baton Twirling Association) World Championships next year in Switzerland.
